Muscular Fitness

Muscular fitness can be done in many ways.  You don't just have to go to the gym and use weights.  You don't even need a gym.  Suspension training uses just your own body weight for the resistance and you can get a full body workout in about ten minutes.  A Bosu ball is great for balance and core exercises plus it can be used for squats, pushups, and many other activities.  Sandbells, body bars, stability balls, and medicine balls are other great ways to get a full body workout with out a lot of expensive gym equipment.

  1. I agree muscular fitness can be done anywhere which is great for PE teachers. We don’t need a fully equipped weight room to do resistance training. I think that for students using their body weight is a good option for resistance training. You want to emphasize and teach proper form when doing resistance training. Also, using resistance bands are a great option! They come is different resistance difficulty levels so there is something for everyone in class. Body bars, bosu balls, kettle bells, and aerobic steps are other great pieces of equipment to use in PE class to get a full body resistance work out! Another great thing about this is that it doesn’t take a long time to set up and perform. Students can go at their own pace, record their sets and repetitions, and set goals for themselves to work towards in the future.
